See? These are sideways rather than the traditional drop downs previously installed. Why the change?
Rumor has it that the city (that would be bureaucrats that run this show) were concerned that the drop downs were too low and might hit the top of trucks as they zoom thru this intersection. This is a reasonable concern because trucks routinely speed thru this intersection. Frequently.
You may already know, or can see from the picture, this is a no-truck-zone. You can infer that this means the city (that would be bureaucrats that run this show) has no intention of enforcing the truck restriction and is in fact catering to the needs of trucks violating the law.
Isn't there a law against helping people violate the law?
Georgia has an off and on again relationship with "speed traps," with South Georgia implementing a "Yankee Tax" on folks headed to Florida, and most notably with Pine Lake, a DeKalb County city (a real one) of under 800 residents.
Laws were passed.
Now there are very limited situations where a speeding ticket can be issued at less than 10 over: by Ga State Patrol; or when the speed limit sign includes "strictly enforced." The latter seems to have all but disappeared in Georgia, but it is of little matter. At least in Dunwoody.
These inconveniences did not deter some dunderhead from pondering the impact, presumably beneficial, of lowering speed limits within Dunwoody (clearly not to include I-285). This was either trolling or serious lack of observation skills.
Are the flashing "yield" signs at the entrance to Nandina effective? No.
Is the re-jiggered 'T' intersection at the exit from Nandina lowering the number of rolling stops? No.
Why might that be?
Could it possibly be that without enforcement drivers are not going to pay attention to these signs? Do you think they would pay any more attention to lowered speed limit signs than they do to the ones in place now? Do you think this city is ever going to use real, live patrol officers to enforce traffic laws inside Dunwoody?
Cops around here don't even run cruise lights, do you really think they're suddenly going to care about any traffic violations?
Atlanta is in a bit of a bind with their policies directing funds to minority businesses as the current federal administration sees that as discrimination. The AJC is on top of the issue and has dropped a few nuggets.
Wow. They are facing some serious belt-tightening if they cannot feed at the federal trough. But, as the AJC reports, this affects more than just Atlanta, and some folks have banded together for some lawfare, seeking strength in numbers
And that one little phrase tells an enormous truth about what is wrong in America, particularly urban America: "their federal funds." That sense of entitlement is so pervasive, so much a part of every fiber of their existence that they are casual about it. "Of course it's OUR federal funds. Whose did you think it was?" Apparently some silly blokes thought it was federal funds, which makes it more about everyone and not just the urbanities.
You have to wonder if the bureaucrats at our beige palace aspire to staking a claim on federal funds, no matter what the cost to the community.
What, you ask, is so difficult? Well, that would be apologizing, and this city has well over a million reasons to apologize. And really, how can you NOT apologize. You ran an organization with systemic sexual harassment and to make up for it you not only spend millions of dollars to lose court cases, you allow the person who was supposed to keep this from happening to run his own investigation. Of himself. This would be laughable if it were some banana republic, but it isn't. To make matters worse, neither of the top dogs, the city managers, did anything other that fight against what is right, because they seemingly think "wrong" looks so much better. And for them, appearances are everything.
Wouldn't it have been easier to acknowledge that a superior officer demanding porno pics from subordinates is unacceptable and will not be tolerated? Hard stop. Then you apologize to those victims in the police department, to the whistle blowers you punished, and to the citizens who expect better. You do this by explaining exactly, in precise detail, what went wrong, who failed in diligence and action, and what measures you have taken and will continue to take to ensure this never happens again.
Instead, you've pissed away OUR money defending a predator and fighting whistleblower complaints. You look like idiots and are an embarrassment to the community. And this goes not only for the unelected bureaucrats running this shitshow, but for the elected mayor and council who sit idly by, or worse yet rise up in support of this atrocious display of moral rot. When this first came to light, the mayor and council should have insisted on an independent, outside investigation and if the city manager refused he should have been fired for insubordination. Once the truth, which is now seeing the light of day, was revealed, mayor and council should have called for the firing of the police chief, and again, failure of the city manager to act would be fireable insubordination.
It is time for the mayor and council to show some integrity, and character worthy of the citizens they claim to represent. It is time for them to grow a spine. If they cannot, or will not, then they should resign.
Now that Wally Whirled has packed up his tents and left town maybe the Dunwoody PD can do what we were told they would do and actually start policing the neighborhoods. Now it may not rake in lots of money as the former Top Cop explained, but isn't it worth a try? If there were some patrolling going on then maybe we'd not have vehicles leaving the roadway with enough inertia to take the life of an innocent fire hydrant.

This gator shouldn't be there because those trucks should be barreling down Roberts. Hard stop. Schools starts next week and no one at city hall seems to give a damn.
Red Light Runner-At Least He Signaled
Now, lest you think this is the only traffic signal in daVille being violated, you should spend a little time at the intersection of Chamblee Dunwoody and Roberts, where it is all too common to see northbound vehicles heading onto Roberts treat a red light like a yield sign. One glance to the left and they just plow right through the light. It is worthy of note that these drivers do not seem to care about pedestrians. And don't fool yourself, this is not just happening at the near-dawn jogging hour, this happens in broad daylight. Lunch time.
Why is this happening? Could it possibly be that since this city was founded there has been virtually no traffic code enforcement? And everyone, absolutely everyone, knows there never will be any. That's why.
Some time ago, as rumor has it, a resident spoke to the folks at the Publix in daVille regarding the no truck zones. From that time forward Publix has routed their trucks to avoid the no truck zones as they should. And as they did. Until today.
There is some reason to believe this was a mistake. The driver originally intended to turn left, perhaps after seeing the "no truck" sign on Roberts, to continue on Chamblee Dunwoody at which point the driver may have seen the "no truck" sign on CDR. In any event the driver stopped, mid intersection, and after some delay continued on Roberts. Without the requisite forty acres the choices were limited.
Perhaps if the driver had seen the "no trucks" sign at the corner of CDR and the Parkway this would have been avoided. It is hard to fault a driver for not seeing a sign that is flat on the ground and has been for over a week. It is perfectly reasonable to fault a failed city government.
If you've been keeping track of the alleged murderer of Laken Riley you may have noticed something absolutely gobstopping. If you haven't, well, everyone hopes you come out of that coma. What you may have noticed in about one third of the news outlets is a quote from the Feds regarding the interactions between Customs and Border Protection and the arrested alleged murderer. Let's quote the quote:
"...arrested Ibarra Sept. 8, 2022, after he unlawfully entered the United States near El Paso, Texas. He was paroled and released for further processing."
So much is wrong with this failed state gobbledyspeak. Unlawfully? Say what you mean, and you mean he is here illegally. But what leaps out of this mind fart is "released for further processing." What kind of processing? Who does this processing? When does it happen? Come to find out they expected a recently released unlawful actor to...and here's were it gets Orwellian...follow the law. That's right, someone in D.C. expects a person who just got caught, red handed, breaking the law, to come on in for fingerprinting and then file an asylum claim. No worries, no hurries, whenever you get a round tuit. The folks touting "common sense" when it comes to gun control are senseless when it comes to border control. And do not mention his brother, who is also here illegally, using a fake green card, because pulling on that thread exposes the ugly underside of the illegal immigrant industry, and those in government who support it.
Perhaps you can be forgiven if this hasn't shown up on your radar. If you're true blue, you probably tune in to the over 60% of media that are left-leaning, who've ignored the illegal immigrant fact, whilst doing some victim blaming suggesting women shouldn't be out alone. It is as if they are saying "girls, it just ain't safe, and we're OK with that." Well some folks are not OK with that. Anyone, male, female, or swirling in decision, should be able to engage in an outdoor activity, solo, without putting their health or life at risk. If the allegations are true, the murderer used a weapon of opportunity, and we all know who gave him that opportunity. It wasn't the victim.
Fine. We know they are grant-grubbers. Have been since day one. And they do need to tick some boxes to grub those grants. But you have to wonder why it is city hall is spending over $166K "develop a road safety action plan." Now we know these plans, like the PATH[etic] plans aren't worth the paper they're not printed on, but for the love of god why do we have to spend this money? With the bloated city payroll you'd think they could have hired someone who could string together the blather that would pass muster and earn that grant application tick mark. Or, how about this? Why don't they use ChatGPT to "develop" action plan? In fact we could ditch PATH as well.
It is worth noting that this is not even what a normal person would call a plan. It is a plan for actions to be taken to come up with an actual plan assuming they follow thru once the Fed's check clears. Not likely.
Apparently we are not alone in not wanting to have our neighborhoods invaded by the Path Foundation. They are spreading their brand of stupid throughout the area and as it turns out there are quite a few folks who do NOT want an interstate freeway lane paved through their neighborhood.

Better question: who cares? We, in Dunwoody, can start with the easier question of "who doesn't care?" since we know the answer: everyone at city hall, that's who. We can only change a few of those and then the replacements will have to chip away at the rot starting at the head.
You gotta wonder. Really. This city has a crisis of leadership. City Hall is snowed in by a blizzard of well-earned lawsuits resulting from (what ought to be criminal) incompetence at the highest levels of city bureaucracy. Hey, if the DeKalb School Board can do it why can't our city council? No stones?
And stones are the new shiny objects city bureaucrats are using to distract the rather short-term attention of our elected officials. They want to ban gravel driveways. That's right. They've got nothing better to do than dish out grief to residents for something that cannot offend more than a very, very few folks, most of whom need a life. Or a HOA. And city hall is on track to exempt businesses and developers (of course) so this is targeted exclusively to residents, and to be clear, single-home-owner residents. You know, the folks who voted this happy horseshit into existence in the first place.
The silliness has started with one on council remarkably remarking that pervious gravel driveways require maintenance to remain pervious. JMJ and WTF! OK genius, tell us, is that better or worse than a concrete or asphalt driveway that requires no maintenance to remain impervious? But they haven't even begun a legal definition of "gravel." Does crushed granite count? It does look quite a bit like concrete and tends to minimize dispersion, though it is never as impervious as concrete. And, it might actually be to the homeOWNER's liking. No matter. They haven't determined what materials, granite, marble, sandstone, pumice, etc. count as gravel. Nor what size: sand, marble-size, grape-fruit. Not even shape. Flat, like flagstone? What is the smallest a flagstone can be before it is just gravel? How about round river rocks? Got a size limit on those? Or is it just any non-concrete, non-asphalt drive? Do they have a clue? Do they care? Is this just a shiny, distracting object? Or are they all just stoned?
So, after they outlaw your preferred driveway, whatcha gonna do? Well ponder this a bit. They cannot regulate a driveway when there, well, is no driveway. After all do you really need anything more than grass or other ground cover? Probably not. You can you even mark it off with landscape lighting, or...

And just think, that newly verboten pea gravel could just be plowed under. Those stones are good for the grass and grass is good for getting stoned.
But more than likely this is nothing but an attempt to distract everyone from the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars being pissed away trying to cover for gross incompetence at city hall. And that is the most concrete bullshit there is.
